Hunnewell-Fitzroy to serve as Arkadelphia Rotary guest speaker, Oct. 24

The Arkadelphia Rotary Club will meet Friday, October 24, 2014, at Western Sizzlin, 106 WP Malone Drive, for its weekly meeting. Mrs. Amy Hunnewell-Fitzroy has been invited to serve as guest speaker and will talk about hobby/beginning beekeeping in Arkansas. Rotarians and guests are invited to attend. For more information on the guest speaker, please read her brief biography below.

Amy Hunnewell-Fitzroy is a 5th year beekeeper with a small apiary in South Central Arkansas. Her goal is to complete the Master Beekeeper Certification by 2016 and become the first woman in Arkansas with a Master Certification. 


Hunnewell-Fitzroy is also committed to the mission of the Xerces Society’s Pollination Conservation initiative and has taken the Pollination Pledge to create valuable habitat for pollinators. She completes regular training classes through the Arkansas Plant Board and Xerces Society. Hunnewell-Fitzroy is a member of the Greater Hot Springs Beekeeper’s Club, Nashville Beekeeper’s Club, and Little Rock Beekeeper’s Club.

Originally from Maine, Amy and her husband Dan moved to Arkadelphia three years ago. She works with members of the community on honeybee education through visitation and appointments at her apiary.

The Arkadelphia Rotary Club will meet Friday, October 10, 2014, at Western Sizzlin, 106 WP Malone Drive, for its weekly meeting. Abigail Fryar and Stephanie Bennett of the Arkansas Rehabilitation Division have been invited to serve as guest speakers. Rotarians and guests are invited to attend. Abigail Fryar is a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, Hot Springs Office. Arkansas Rehabilitation Service’s mission is to prepare Arkansans with disabilities to work and lead productive and independent lives, (ARS) provides a variety of services; vocational counseling, training, job placement, assistive technology, job retention and much more.  
 
Stephanie Bennett is a Business Consultant for Arkansas Rehabilitation Services and Consulting, Hot Springs Office. Rehabilitation Services and Consulting is a full-service business assistance program for Arkansas Business owners and employers. Stephanie’s role is to serve as a liaison for business customers and consumers with disabilities. RSC programs are designed to aid businesses find the right match to fill needs whether they be staffing, retaining valuable employees, identifying financial incentives, conducting accessibility analyses or education and training.

Morris to serve as Arkadelphia Rotary guest speaker, October 3

The Arkadelphia Rotary Club will meet Friday, October 3, 2014, at Western Sizzlin, 106 WP Malone Drive, for its weekly meeting. Mr. Brandon D. Morris, Union Pacific Railroad Director of Public Affairs, has been invited to serve as guest speaker. Rotarians and guests are invited to attend. Brandon D. Morris is the director of public affairs for Arkansas, Oklahoma and Tennessee at Union Pacific Railroad. He is responsible for the development and implemention of Union Pacific strategy and policy for state government affairs, community relations, public partnerships and philanthropic programs for his assigned states. Morris most recently served is the deputy public information officer at the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM). 
 
Prior to joining ADEM in 2013, Morris worked as a government contractor on the Public Affairs team at the U.S. Army Pine Bluff Arsenal. He worked for SAIC and served as the public affairs and outreach liaison for the Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility from 2008 to 2013. 

A native of Pine Bluff, Morris is a 2004 graduate of Pine Bluff High School. He holds a Masters of Public Administration from Webster University and is involved with the Arkansas State University Alumni Association, the Arkansas Chapter of Public Relations Society of America and serves as the professional adviser for Arkansas State University Public Relations Student Society of America. Morris is also Accredited in Public Relations and Military Communication (APR+M).
