Gregory to serve as Arkadelphia Rotary guest speaker, May 30

The Arkadelphia Rotary Club will meet Friday, May 30, 2014, at Western Sizzlin, 106 WP Malone Drive, for its weekly meeting. Ms. Brooke Gregory has been invited to serve as guest speaker and will provide information about the Clark County Farmers' Market. Rotarians and guests are invited to attend. For more information on the guest speaker, please read her brief biography below. 
BROOKE GREGORY is a graduate of Henderson State University with a degree in business management. She is employed as a community development officer for Southern Bancorp Community Partners (the non-profit affiliate of Southern Bancorp Bank).  Previously she served in the role of internal auditor for Southern Bancorp Bank. In her role as Community Development Officer, Gregory is responsible for carrying out the goals of the Clark County Strategic Plan. Through this plan, she has worked with the community on many successful projects including: Boys & Girls Club of Clark County, Clark County Farmers’ Market, Arkansas Downtown Network for the City of Arkadelphia, Iron Mountain Hiking Trail, Southwest Arkansas College Preparatory Academy, Arkadelphia Promise Scholarship, Arkadelphia Arts Mural Project, Battle of the Ravine Rally Festival, DeGray Sunset Trail, Ouachita River Bluff Trail and Historical Interpretative Signage, Façade Improvement Program for Small Businesses, Clark County Community Mini-Grant Program, and the County-wide ½ Cent Economic Development Sales Tax passage. Gregory resides in Arkadelphia and is active in the community, currently serving as president-elect of the Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and as a board member for the Arkadelphia Regional Economic Development Alliance, Clark County Farmers’ Market, and Downtown Arkadelphia Network. In addition, she is still involved with her university alma mater as chapter advisor for Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

Arkadelphia Rotary hosts service event to install I-30 entrance landscaping

The Arkadelphia Rotary Club, in conjunction with the City of Arkadelphia, is hosting a community service project to populate the newly installed landscaping beds near I-30 Exit 73 in Arkadelphia with colorful perennials. Join fellow Rotarians and community members this Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. to noon to volunteer your time to beautify our community. Local civic clubs, families, and individuals are invited to participate in the community-wide planting effort.

This project has been made possible through two generous grants from the Clark County Strategic Plan Foundation and The Rotary Foundation.

Simmons and Overturf of Twin Rivers Architecture to serve as Arkadelphia Rotary guest speakers, May 23

The Arkadelphia Rotary Club will meet Friday, May 23, 2014, at Western Sizzlin, 106 WP Malone Drive, for its weekly meeting. The club has invited fellow Rotarian Jerry Simmons, president of Twin Rivers Architecture, and Mark Overturf, architect and firm partner, to speak about their company and its services. Rotarians and guests are invited to attend. For more information on the guest speakers, please read their brief biographies below.
JERRY SIMMONS, President of Twin Rivers Architecture, P.A., earned his bachelor of architecture degree from Mississippi State University in 1987 and has been engaged in the practice of architecture since that time. Simmons has over 25 years experience in the field of architecture, with design experience covering all facets of architecture from educational work to recreation and religious. Simmons has the ability to assess the program along with the available site and generate very efficient and great looking designs. He is a positive thinker and knows that great design only comes after careful consideration of all the elements involved. Simmons resides in the Manchester Community of Clark County with his wife, Kristy, with whom he has four children. He is a member of the Arkadelphia Rotary Club.

MARK OVERTURF earned his bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1994. His major interests were historic restorations and exterior. Mark began his career with Twin Rivers Architecture, P.A. in June of 1994 by working as an intern, involving himself in all aspects of the architecture profession. Mark became licensed in the State of Arkansas in April of 2002 and is now a partner in the firm. Mark remains dedicated to the client/architect relationship and feels that connection is an essential one. Mark lives in downtown Arkadelphia with his wife, Ginger, and their three children. He is active in community affairs by serving at his local church, the Arkadelphia Lions Club, and the Arkadelphia Area Chamber of Commerce.

Phillips to serve as Arkadelphia Rotary guest speaker, May 14

The Arkadelphia Rotary Club will meet Friday, May 16, 2014, at Western Sizzlin, 106 WP Malone Drive, for its weekly meeting. Mr. Fred Phillips has been invited to serve as guest speaker and will provide information about his company, DLT Event Management. Rotarians and guests are invited to attend. For more information on the guest speaker, please read his brief biography below. 
FRED PHILLIPS was born in Lockport, New York, and moved to Arkadelphia in late 1994 as an engineer with Carrier to assist in bringing the plant up to production rate. Phillips holds an undergraduate degree from State University of New York at Utica and a masters of science in industrial engineering from State University of New York at Buffalo. He has been a competitive athlete nearly his entire life and exclusively focuses on mountain bike racing at the moment, though he has completed over 30 marathons, 2 Iron Man Triathlons, and many other events over the past 40 years. In 1997, he started DLT Event Management and has produced over 200 triathlon, road cycling, mountain biking, and other events. Phillips is active in the community, taking on the Iron Mountain Trail System project as a member of the tourism committee for the Clark County Strategic Plan.

Goodman to serve as Arkadelphia Rotary guest speaker, May 9, 2014

The Arkadelphia Rotary Club will meet Friday, May 9, 2014, at Western Sizzlin, 106 WP Malone Drive, for its weekly meeting. Mrs. Karrie Goodman has been invited to serve as guest speaker and will provide information about CASA of Clark County. Rotarians and guests are invited to attend. For more information on the guest speaker, please read her brief biography below. 
Karrie Goodman grew up outside of Kansas City, Kansas. After graduating from Blue Valley High School in 1989, she moved with her family to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Goodman earned her bachelor’s degree in business education from Henderson State University. While a student at Henderson, she met her soon-to-be husband, David Goodman, a Ouachita Baptist University student.

Goodman sold real estate with Coldwell Banker from 2003-2010 and co-owns the downtown shop, Mary and Martha’s Florist & Gifts, with her husband. After serving as a volunteer advocate with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Clark County for three years, she became the Executive Director of the program in 2009.

The Goodmans have two children, Adeline and Gabe, and they reside in Arkadelphia. Karrie is very active in the community, serving as a school board member for the Arkadelphia School District, graduate of Leadership Clark County, and a member of Beta Sigma Phi.
